Abstract.
The technique and technology of iron ore mining and processing research results are presented in the article by the example of the Black Earth South of Russia from the IX th century till the end of the XVII th century. The paper reveals ore deposits regions and instruments kinds. The unpublished materials of State Archive of Voronezh Region and Russian State Archive of Ancient Documents are used as sources. It allows revealing blacksmiths and blast furnace workers’ production process peculiarities.
