Abstract.
The article reveals the peculiarities of the development of amateur performances in the Mari ASSR during the Great Patriotic War. The author analyses the role of the amateur groups in the propaganda of works with patriotic content, their place in the range of other creative republican organizations, the reasons of the quantitative changes of the number of such associations in different years of the War according to the policy of the soviet state and the activity of the local bodies of government.
