Abstract.
The article is devoted to the consideration of the ideas of the French-speaking researchers of the second half of the XX century about the specifics of the existing of art works as museum pieces in an Art Gallery. The views of artists and museum specialists - both practitioners and theoreticians - are analyzed. Many works studied by the author have never been translated into Russian previously and never been conceived by native specialists.
