Abstract.
The article is devoted to the specifics of the social and economic environment of the towns of North Caucasus at the beginning of the XX century. The author pays special attention to the types of civil social initiatives and practices; analyzes the concrete forms of the activity of non-state voluntary associations on the protection of professional rights and securing socio-economic support.
