Abstract.
The article is devoted to the specifics of developing the polyethnic and multicultural environment of the North-Caucasian towns. The author investigates the role of diaspora institutions in the development of urban culture. By the example of the Armenian diaspora the researcher considers the forms and methods of preserving ethnocultural identity in pre-revolutionary and modern periods. Special attention is paid to the social-political and cultural activities of Vladikavkaz Armenian diaspora; the types of adaptive, philanthropic, educational support are researched. The paper analyzes the role of the diaspora in establishing international and cross-confessional dialogue and interaction.
