ANTHROPOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF URBAN CULTURE

Abstract. The article reveals the meaning of the concept “urban culture”, which is becoming more and more widespread in modern socio-humanities studies testifying the importance of the analysis of urban cultural area, its possibilities and specific problems. The author characterizes the structure of urban culture, identifies its functions, describes its correlation with the physical and social characteristics of city area. Special attention is paid to the fact that urban culture has a number of essential anthropological characteristics that enables it to secure the social subjectness of a modern citizen.
