Abstract.
The article is devoted to the opening of Dagestan Medical Institute in 1932 and its role in the creation of medical personnel in the Republic, the formation of local medical intelligentsia. In this work on the basis of large factual material with the involvement of archival sources the detailed analysis of the first years of the existence of Dagestan Medical Institute is given, Russia doctors’ contribution to the development of the medical education of the Republic, the gradual increase of the natives among the medical élite of Dagestan are noted. The significance of Dagestan Medical Institute in provision of young professionals not only for its Republic but also for other regions of the country is stated.
