Abstract.
The article is devoted to a little known page in the history of Oirat Autonomous Region (now - the Altai Republic) - the armed rising of the Kazakhs on the 8 th of March, 1930 in Kosh-Agach district. Analyzing the materials of the archival- investigatory cases of the repressed Kazakhs in 1930, which are kept in the Department of Special Documentation of the State Archive of Altai Krai, the author considers the reasons, preparation, main events and results of the armed rising of the Kazakhs.
