ROLE OF WOMEN IN POLICY OF THE LATIN AMERICAN AND CARIBBEAN COUNTRIES

Abstract. Latin America holds one of the most original political records - the largest number of women-politicians. And not only politicians, but political leaders coming to power by nationwide vote in such countries as Chile, Argentina, Costa Rica and Brazil. The goal of the article is to investigate the phenomenon of female leadership in the Latin American and Caribbean countries, and its tasks include the identification of reasons for such political activity of women and also the necessity to characterize the styles of the leadership of the most prominent representatives of the political elite of Latin America. In the article the author evaluates the policy implemented by the governments of the Latin American and Caribbean countries, which has resulted in the growth of female participation in political life.
