Abstract.
The authors identify criteria for assessing the degree of the efficiency of the activities of territorial public self-administration organizations as a social institution, one of evident functions of which is the development of the traditional culture of the Cossacks in Volgograd region. During the research the method of the expert inquiry of the managers and specialists of the bodies of executive power of Volgograd region, who have direct relation to the considered issue, is used. The obtained conclusions and guidelines can be used for the development of traditional cultures in other regions of the Russian Federation.
