Abstract.
The article considers the history of the issue of the European Union accession to the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms of 1950 and legal bases for such accession. Special attention is paid to the fact that the European Union accession to the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms is an optimal way of overcoming possible disagreements and consolidating the institutional collaboration of the Court of Justice of the European Union and the European Court of Human Rights.
