HORIZONS OF POLYSTYLISTICS

Abstract. In the article the author analyzes the essence, genesis and evolution of polystylistics, which became an important component of the artistic process of the XX century and supposes a deliberate combination of different, often sharply contrasting, styles within the limits of one work. The art of music advanced earlier and more actively than other types of artistic art to the formation of the principles of polystylistics. Just in music the process of the exacerbation of stylistic contrasts within a single work was steadily gaining strength. Along with music the article deals with the experiments of mastering polystylistic techniques in literature and painting.
