Abstract.
The article analyzes the creative work of the contemporary Chinese sculptor Li Xiangqun. His major works, mainly monumental compositions devoted to the prominent figures of the history and culture of China, are considered. The name of Li Xiangqun is introduced in the context of the global trends of monumental sculpture evolution. The author analyzes its correlation with the international direction of new urban sculpture that emerged in the West after World War II and in the last two decades has become relevant in the Chinese cultural context.
