Abstract. The article tries to show that even the thinkers of the ancient East in their writings referred to military and philosophical problematic while studying the essence of war and its features, conceiving the reasons of its origin and prevention, classifying wars and showing relationship between war and politics. The author pays attention to the internal contradictions of war and its consequences. The overall result of the article is the substantiation of the thesis that war should be considered as the gravest crime against humanity.
