Abstract.
The article analyzes the issue of the finiteness of the human being. The focus is on the necessity of the statement of the question on the sense of death, which may be solved only in the context of the holistic study of the essence of the human being and his/her value orientations. The paper points out differences in regard to death in science and philosophy; changes in understanding the finiteness of individual existence in culture and “death oblivion” peculiar for modern society are examined.
