Abstract.
The article considers Plato’s doctrine about language in the form, in which it is formulated in the dialogue “Cratylus”. The essence of Plato’s position is revealed, and according to it words - if language is used in the right way - convey the essence of things. The authors suggest that Plato’s methodology of words interpretation can be applied to the analysis of the self-consciousness of the modern man living in the era of traditional ethical values crisis.
