Abstract.
The article analyzes the main stages of the military-political strategy of D. Cameron’s coalition government in the period of 2010-2015 including the development of a new conception of security and defense, its practical implementation, as well as the participation of the British armed forces in operations abroad under the conditions of the relative reduction of the role of Great Britain on the international arena. Summing up the defense policy of the government complicated by the need to reach a compromise with the coalition partners and to overcome the budget deficit is particularly relevant in the run-up to the general parliamentary elections scheduled for May 2015.
