ACTIVITY OF LOCAL AUTHORITIES ON ORGANIZATION OF LEISURE OF TYUMEN RESIDENTS (1964-1985)

Abstract.
The article examines the policy of Tyumen City Council in relation to the citizens’ leisure. The paper is based on archival sources for the first time introduced into scientific circulation. Among the basic trends of the Council’s activity the author distinguishes the transformation of the urban environment, the consolidation of the resource base and building cultural and educational institutions, the organization of different leisure activities. The researcher concludes that by the end of the analyzed period the local authorities took more care for this sphere. To a great extent it was conditioned by the fact that the Council aimed to satisfy the growing demands of the population.
