Abstract. The article examines the process of the development of the conceptual framework of educational process in the schools of the USA at the turn of the XIX-XX centuries. The authors point out significant changes of the structure of education conditioned by the appearance of a number of the progressive pedagogical works of European and American scientists. While analyzing the peculiarities of the development of education in the USA it is concluded that by the end of the XIX century this model had differed significantly from similar schools of other countries by the specificity of structure and the organization of educational process. The advantages and disadvantages of the American school in the period under consideration are noted.
