Abstract.
The article deals with the activity of the Circassian Association of Unification and Mutual Assistance in the Ottoman Empire after the Young Turk Revolution in 1908. The basic principles of its nation-formative doctrine “cherkesism” are identified. The author comes to the conclusion that the program of the association fitting quite harmoniously into the pluralistic context of the first years of the constitutional government lost its relevance in socio-political conditions on the eve of the World War I in many respects.
