Abstract. The article touches on the issues of the functioning of naval educational institutions in the years of the First World War. The authors examine the general problems of naval educational institutions activity. Special attention is paid to the organization of students’ marine practice. The paper concludes that the end of the First World War coincided with the organization of the naval educational institutions of a cardinally new type - maritime higher school.
