Abstract.
The article reveals the meaning of the contradictory processes of preserving and developing the Khakass people under globalization and social transformations. The paper shows that neo-traditionalistic trend is one of efficient strategies. Special attention is paid to the dominating role of women in the development of traditional and modern societies. The author concludes that ethnic neo-traditionalism is rather symbolic and contradictory; cultural heritage itself is characterized by the incompleteness of tradition manifestation.
