Abstract.
The article is devoted to one of the first big compositions of the modern domestic composer Aleksandr Tsygankov “Russian Fantasy” for balalaika and Russian folk orchestra. By the example of this composition the author shows the specific forms of implementing folkloric themes typical for the folk instrumental culture of the last decades. This sample harmoniously combines traditional devices associated with variational development and new forms of interpreting folk material by collage techniques.
