Abstract. The article discusses the history of the origin of electro-cardiology in the second half of the XIX century, discovers the achievements of two researchers, the professors of the University of Würzburg - Albert von Kölliker and Heinrich Müller. The paper presents the brief life stories of the scientists, describes their experiments on studying electric phenomena in the heart of a frog. It is shown that the studies conducted by Kölliker and Müller resulted in identifying electric potentials in a working heart. This discovery was of crucial importance for the origin of electro-cardiology.
