INSURED SUM IN INSURANCE CONTRACT

Abstract.
The article examines approaches to defining insured sum and its role in property and personal insurance. The author explores the influence of insured sum amount on determining the amount of insurance payout and the correlation of insured sum with insured value. The paper identifies the peculiarities of insured sum concerning property and personal insurance, analyzes the current legislation regulating the issues regarding insured sum. The practice of applying the current legislation in this sphere is under analysis. On the basis of the conducted research the author discovers the lacunas of the current legislation and the provisions, which should be changed.
