Abstract.
The article on the basis of archival materials examines the state and activity of the communities of the Evangelical Christians-Baptists of Western Siberia in the period of the “Stalinist liberalization” of church life (the 1940s - the beginning of the 1950s). The paper reconstructs the interaction of the church members with the local authorities. The analysis indicates that many rites and regulations of the Evangelical Christians-Baptists were unacceptable for the Soviet state ideology. The author also touches on the problem of the interrelations of the parishioners within the communities.
