SPECIFICS OF EXPLOITING THE “VALENTINE” TANK CANADIAN MODELS IN THE WORKERS’ AND PEASANTS’ RED ARMY DURING THE GREAT PATRIOTIC WAR

Abstract.
Relying on the documents published by the Central Archive of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation the paper examines the problem of applying the lend-lease matériel in the Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army by the example of Canadian “Valentine” tanks. The author emphasizes a set of problems caused by difficulties with the transportation of this armor to the USSR. The paper also analyzes the difficulties of using these tanks in military actions. The researcher concludes that one of the reasons of the negative perception of western armor by Soviet military men was logistic problems while realizing the lend-lease programme in the Soviet Union.
