ETHNO-CONFESSIONAL GROUP OF THE KRYASHENS: TRANSFORMATION OF IDENTITY AND CONTEMPORARY ETHNO-CULTURAL PROCESSES

Abstract.
The topicality of the problem under study is conditioned by the mobility of ethnical and confessional boundaries in contemporary reality that demands the operative reaction of researchers with the purpose of getting objective knowledge and the introduction of the received information into public discourse. On the basis of the field materials of the authors (in-depth interviews, mass survey, focus-groups) the actualized elements of the ethnic self-consciousness of the representatives of the Kryashen population of Tatarstan were formalized and ranked, and the authors’ interpretations of the phenomenon under study are given. The materials of the article may be useful for ethnologists, social and cultural anthropologists, political scientists, and also the representatives of the bodies and structures supervising the issues of interethnic cooperation.
