Abstract.
The article analyzes the influence of emigration on Buddhism propagation in western countries. The author concludes that migrants managed not only to preserve their religious orientation but also to introduce Buddhism as a factor of national identity. Using Buddhism’s potential of tolerance Buddhists-missionaries subsequently adopted a doctrine for western society securing its non-confrontational and successful propagation and then solving the more important task of preserving its purity.
