Abstract.
The article is devoted to the analysis of the conception of myths in the treatise by Ernst Cassirer “The Myth of the State”. The philosopher’s ideas about the role of myths in the functioning and development of the state, about dangers threatening cultures, and about the meaning of rationalism in the struggle against irrational mythical views create a conception of “political mythology”, which remains topical at present. The paper analyzes the fragments of the written in English treatise “The Myth of the State” that are for the first time translated into Russian.
