Abstract.
In the article the author describes the basic trends of the creative and pedagogical activity of Aleksandr Serafimovich Kotlyarov - an artist, a member of Moscow Union of Artists, and a member of the presidium of the Educational-Methodological Association. For almost fifty years of working in the Polygraphic Institute (now - Moscow State University of Printing Arts) Aleksandr Serafimovich has written a number of curricula, workbooks, articles, he has been working in the field of easel painting and graphic arts. His creative and methodological heritage is of interest for both students and outside the university.
