Abstract.
The article analyzes the semantic specificity of the notion “categories of culture” / “cultural universals” in the understanding of cultural anthropologists and culture experts in order to make the study of history and culture methodologically clear. The universals of culture of anthropologists reflect activity stipulated by the biological nature of a man. The “categories of culture” by A. Ya. Gurevich are formed in people’s minds as a result of the perception of the already existing natural and sociocultural reality, to a certain extent on the basis of cultural universals.
