Abstract.
One of the most important periods in the development of Chinese children’s illustrated books has begun since the XX century. Due to many historical reasons the process of the development of children’s books was complex and changeable. The traditions and aesthetics of China reflected not only in old books - modern editions also preserve the cultural heritage of the country. It can be stated that the design and style of the editions of the past influenced the formation of the modern Chinese printed book. Under the influence of ancient books the design of modern publications in China was formed. The analysis of the most important features and characteristics of the traditional Chinese book represented by the author in this article is proposed to be used for the further investigation of the prospects of the development of the book industry in China.
