Abstract.
The article examines the countercultural determinants of youth extremism through the lenses of the propensity of young people to romanticism. Connections between the archetypes of romanticism and the contemporary forms of youth extremism conditioned by a radical search for the roots are traced. Special attention is paid to the problems of hatred among young people because of cultural differences. It is emphasized that the leading countercultural determinants of contemporary youth extremism date back to the patterns of European romanticism, which are subject to distortion in the process of youth’s innovative activity.
