THE PROBLEMS OF CONSCIOUSNESS AND COMPATIBILITY IN JOHN SEARLE’S PHILOSOPHY

Abstract.
The article aims to examine one of the fundamental philosophical problems, namely, the interrelation of material and non-material in the context of John Searle’s theory. This key issue provides a basis for further studying the problem of correlation of consciousness and body and the problem of freedom and determinism while exercising human volition. The paper examines the criticism of the common, as John Searle considers it, tendency among the cognitivist philosophers addressing this issue and analyzes Searle’s own theory of this interrelation.
