MYSTICAL EXPERIENCE VISUALIZATION IN THE INTERNATIONAL GOTHIC AND “ARS NOVA”

Abstract.
The article by the example of some altars of the end of the XIV-XV centuries analyzes the motives for radical stylistic shift to “realism” in the art of this period. It is associated with the developmental history of mysticism and transformation of the conception of ineffability of God which became antagonistic with the religious sphere of everyday life. The social function and structure of mystical vision was carried over to the composition of an image which, in its turn, should be included into the real space.
