Abstract. The article analyzes the ideology and functioning of the radical right wing in the movement for Afro-Americans’ civil rights in the period of its most intensive activity (the 1950-1970s). The “Nation of Islam” phenomenon becomes one of the central problems in the USA racial and ethno-confessional history. The organization’s political and cultural activity is a great contribution into the process of the USA social evolution, which only recently started to attract historians’ interest.
