Abstract. The article addresses some relevant problems associated with the formation and development of foreign screen culture, its nonfiction segment (movies and television), of the middle of the XX century. The paper aims to study the peculiarities of using expressive means in nonfiction films and television of European countries and the USA of the 1950-1960s.
