RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE PHILOSOPHER AND THE CITY: FROM ANCIENT ORIGINS TO CHALLENGES OF POSTMODERNITY

Abstract.
In the context of the city image the article deals with the problems of relationship between the philosopher and the city in antiquity, where philosophy and the philosopher performed a complex function of harmonization and innovations at the same time. Comparison with the problems of the city in terms of modernity and postmodernity is conducted. Hyperurbanization, which is one of global threats today, has generated a response reaction in the movement of “smart cities”, where digital technologies are combined with “smart management” and “smart community”. Participation in this process will allow returning the function of social responsibility and significance to the philosopher and philosophy.
