Abstract.
The article analyzes the poetics of the Spanish polyphonic romance by the material of samples from the largest song collection of the turn of the XV-XVI centuries - Cancionero Musical de Palacio. The author discusses the versions of the genre origin, describes the basic song collections, characterizes the romance types and proposes her original translations of the texts. The analysis of the romance poetical texts promotes identifying the genre features, both specific and typical for other secular song genres.
