ROLE OF TABOO IN ARTISTIC CULTURE OF THE END OF THE XX - THE BEGINNING OF THE XXI CENTURY

Abstract. The article undertakes an attempt to reveal contradictory but objective influence of the system of prohibitions on artistic culture formation from the historical and comparative viewpoint. Of course taboo and prohibitions are not synonymous. Presenting taboo as an unavoidable attribute of spiritual life of the society the author suggests considering simultaneously destruction of taboo: both as one of the factors contributing to development of young ambitious artists’ creativity, and as one of foundations for creating new restrictions with the purpose of their destruction in the future.
