Abstract.
The article provides an analysis of the phenomenon of tolerance from the point of view of M. M. Bakhtin’s dialogical conception. The polar forms of organizing thinking “dialogism - monologism” lie in the basis of the opposition “tolerance - intolerance”. Monologism prefers its own system of views, tolerance has dialogical nature and admits existence of different positions. It is emphasized that the model of tolerance understood as extension of one’s own experience and critical dialogue is the most relevant today.
