SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY OF MASS MEDIA UNDER MODERN CONDITIONS

Abstract. The article is devoted to the problem of social responsibility of mass media in the modern Russian society. The author examines theoretical aspects of social responsibility, its principles, identifies interrelation between social responsibility and freedom of speech. Social responsibility is the basic principle of media professional ethics. The author justifies a thesis that mass media should bear responsibility for information they transfer first of all before the society.
