ACTIVITY OF THE USSR COUNCIL OF MINISTERS’ STATE COMMITTEE FOR CULTURAL RELATIONS WITH FOREIGN COUNTRIES TO ESTABLISH SOVIET-JAPANESE HUMANITARIAN RELATIONS IN 1957-1967

Abstract.
The article analyzes contribution of the USSR Council of Ministers’ State Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries to development of Soviet-Japanese humanitarian relations. The author identifies the level of cooperation between the Committee and the Soviet embassy in Japan, describes participation of the governmental structure in negotiations to conclude a Soviet-Japanese cultural agreement. The paper shows that the Committee laid foundations of regional cooperation between the USSR and Japan, stimulated development of humanitarian cooperation between Soviet territories and regions and prefectural and municipal institutions of the Land of the Rising Sun.
