ELIZABETH TUDOR’S RELIGIOUS REFORMS IN THE CONTEXT OF FORMATION OF THE ENGLISHMEN’S NATIONAL CONSCIOUSNESS

Abstract.
The article deals with formation of the Church of England and development of political philosophy in 1559-1571. Elizabeth I implemented a number of important reforms aimed at isolation of the Church from foreign influences seeing in Catholicism a source of incitement, and in Puritanism - fight against tyranny. The author assesses these changes in the context of formation of the Englishmen’s national identity in the epoch of Elizabeth associated with experience of Reformation and emergence of discourse about the nation.
