Abstract.
The article is devoted to features of formation of political culture as an element of the society political system and, in particular, political culture of youth. Levels of orientation, characteristics, functions and types of political culture are examined. Special attention is paid to results of the conducted study of the level of political activity and political culture of youth in the town of Penza and Penza region, which has revealed a number of problems concerning the young people’s distrust of political decisions of the authorities, and reasons for their political passivity in general.
