PARMENIDES AND DEMOCRITUS: TEACHING ON EXISTENCE AND STABILITY

Abstract.
The article deals with interpretation of existence and stability in teachings by Parmenides and Democritus. Parmenides understood existence as whole, invariable, immovable. For Democritus being is invariable atoms. It is noted that in these teachings, in spite of difference in understanding of being, it is possible to single out general features: existence is interpreted as intelligible, inaccessible to sensual perception, as invariable, as revealed behind sensually perceptible changeable things, and also being is stable.
