Abstract.
The article is devoted to the analysis of the social structure of the towns of Simbirsk province in the second half of the XIX century. Each town of the province during the period under study passed its unique path of development and contributed to the emergence of the uniqueness of the region. The social component of the singularity of the regional towns of the region was formed from the number and class hierarchy. The paper gives an overview of the statistical data contained in archival documents as well about the dynamics of changes in social characteristics of the regional towns of Simbirsk province during the period under study.
