LEGISLATIVE BASES OF THE ESTABLISHMENT AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS OF THE SOVIET UNION AND IRAN

Abstract.
The article analyzes the key positions of the fundamental treaties and agreements establishing interstate relations of the Soviet Union and Iran (Persia until 1935) in the most important spheres: diplomatic, trade-economic, border-line ones. It is shown that, signed in the 20s of the XX century, treaties were based on the principles of equality and mutual respect, which significantly differentiated them from the agreements of tsarist Russia and Persia. In addition, the importance of certain positions of these documents is identified for the solution of the relevant problems of the Caspian region at the present stage, the main of which is the development of a new legal status of the Caspian Sea, which until now continues to be determined by the treaties of 1921 and 1940.
