Submitted: December 1, 2017
Abstract. The article considers the Trinitarian disputes of the 60-70s of the IV century. It is emphasized that the Trinitarian dogmatic factions of the epoch, trying to clarify the mystery of the consubstantiality of God the Father and the Logos-Son, used a special philosophical and theological language, distinguished by its peculiarity. The author examines the main Trinitarian notions and compares the ways in which they are used by different theological factions. On the basis of a system analysis of the church historical material it is shown that the competing dogmatic parties of the epoch under study delimited in the understanding of the fundamental Trinitarian terms “οὐσία” and “ὑπόστασις” and basically used these terms as antipodes, which was the difficulty of the interpretation of the Trinitarian issues of the epoch. The author expresses the view that in the 60-70s of the IV century the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Alexandria and all Africa of 362 and the Synods of Antioch of 363 were of fundamental importance, thanks to the decisions of which a decisive step was taken in the process of clarification and formulation of the Trinitarian dogma about the consubstantiality of God the Father and Jesus Christ.
